After 'autoproj update' i cant start vizkit anymore, as the package
tools/pocolog is not found.

in my manifest i have:

package_sets:
- gitorious: rock-toolchain/package_set
- gitorious: rock/package_set

my autorproj is on branch 'stable' and the folder autoproj/remotes now
contains
- rock.core
- rock
- rock.DEPRECATED
- rock.toolchain.DEPRECATED
- orocos.toolchain

i created a new env.sh ( with autoproj envsh) but it has no
tools/pocolog anymore.

i assume it is as rock.toolchain is deprecated now .

We moved to github for our core-repositorys.
Bit in general this should not affect you in any way, try to change you
manifest in this way:

remove the mentioned lines and add:
- github: rock-core/rock-package_set

in the layout only remove also all lines you mentioned and add:
- rock.core

Try to run a update again.
If this does not help send me please your complete manifest.
The lines you send here are not working for me in general...

This transition is anything else than smooth and is affecting all people even the one on stable and next. The reason is that some of the package definitions get lost when autoproj is switching same package sets to deprecated.

I am really sorry about this but I hope changing four lines in your manifest is not asking for too much to solve the problem now. The only thing that has changed is the location where the packages are hosted and how the packages are distributed onto the different package sets.

This is really not how things should be done and I hope we can avoid bothering you with that kind of stuff in the future.

Known bug (unfortunately) ... I never had the time to fix it, and it hits
someone so rarely that it ends up at the bottom of the todo list.

Feel free to work on it, though ... :P

I am more than happy that you invest quite a bit of your time in maintaining the framework. The problem is more on our side that. I did not even know that we have these kind of issues until today but I guess there are people which could have discussed it on the mailing list ;-).

If it is so problematic, I would rather revert the change until we can find fixes for the various issues.

autoproj is changing the package set rock.toolchain to rock.toolchain.DEPRECATED which is at the end rock.core but does not import the package set rock which is specified in rock.core. Therefore all packages specified in rock ( rock-package_set) are no longer known to autoproj

This is not an issue as rock.toolchain and rock.base are importing
rock.core and the (gitorious) rock imports the (github) rock, which means
that the package map what they were beforehand.

I've found one major issue with the new rock.core package set, that
appeared only when on next or stable. Can someone urgently have a look /
test:

It is because there are installations which are only selecting rock.toolchain and rock.base in the layout. Now these installations are broken no matter which flavor they use.

The problem was that the new rock.core package set was completely broken
for non-master flavors. Everything should be back to normal since last
Friday.

Run
autoproj update-config
autoproj envsh

and everything should be back to normal
